NORTH EAST TRIBES WITH WILDLIFE

Arrive at Kolkata airport, meet our representative and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon, proceed for the local sightseeing visiting the Victoria Memorial, which is one of the oldest museums in the city. Located at the top end of Chowringhee is the Birla Planetarium, also visit the Botanical Gardens, famous for its huge collection of bamboos, orchids, palms and the plants of screw pine genus. Overnight stay at your hotel.

Morning on time transfer to airport to board the flight for Guwahati.  On arrival at Guwahati you will be received by our representative and drive to Kaziranga, famous for Kaziranga National Park which is a UNESCO world heritage site and hosts two-third of the world’s great one-horned Rhinoceros. On arrival, check-in at the hotel. Overnight in Kaziranga.

Early morning proceed for Elephant ride inside the national park, the best way to get really close to the Rhino & other animals. Then return back to the lodge and after breakfast go for a Jeep Safari, and after the safari we return back to lodge. Post lunch we go for another Jeep Safari in Western / Central range of the park (Depending on the sunset as in winter the sun sets early in Northeast India). Evening at leisure.

Morning start drive to Neematighat and take a boat ferry to Majuli - the largest inhabited River Island in the world and famous for the Vaishnavite Satras or monasteries and its Culture. Majuli Island is also a World Heritage Site, located in the Brahmaputra River. Reach Majuli and check-in at the hotel. Thereafter, visit the monasteries and interface with tribes in the island. Overnight in Majuli.

Explore tribal villages in Majuli visit Jengraimukh, a Mising tribe village. Mising is one of the most colorful and culturally rich ethnic groups of the North Eastern region. This Island, with a population of 1.6 Lakhs, majority being tribal, is endowed with rich heritage and has been the abode of the neo-Vaishnavite culture. Evening you will be entertained with a cultural show on Missing tribal dances and customs. Overnight stay at Majuli.

Morning, drive till ferry point to cross the Brahmaputra River and start drive for Ziro. Ziro is situated on the Apatani Plateau (in lower Subansiri region) & surrounded by pine-mantled hills all around. A visit to an Apatani tribal home is a must. The Apatanis are one of the most advanced & intriguing of Arunachal’s tribal people. Both men & women tattoo themselves and the women are distinctive with their great nose plugs (dat) made of bamboo & face tattoos.

You have a full day at Apatani tribal villages of Bamin-Hija - Dutta Bulla and Hong. These villages are to be counted as second biggest and most organized tribal villages in Asia. You also get the opportunity to see a tribal museum & emporium. In the evening witness a cultural programme subject of availability. Overnight in Ziro.

From Ziro you proceed to Daprijo, which is home to the Tagin & Miri tribes. It is the district head quarters of upper Subansiri. Daprijo is a visitors’ delight with its dazzling landscapes & tribal culture. Overnight in Daprijo.

Your next stop amidst the fascinating tribal people of Arunachal is at Along. It is the district headquarters of West Siang & home to the Memba & Khemba tribes. The village has a river running through it. On the way visit Renging and Panging Adi Minyong villages. On the way visit Bam and Rupak Adi Galong village. Overnight in Along.

After breakfast, take your whole day will be in Along, visiting villages of the Adi Gallo. Take a walk from Kabu village to Paya village – a very scenic walk along the River Siang. Picnic lunch on the river bank. Overnight in Along.

You re-commence your drive on the far back and then drive to Pasighat. Pasighat is Arunachal’s oldest town & also the district headquarters of East Siang. The turbulent Siang River races across the district heading for the plains, where it is met by the Dihing & Lohit rivers, & then roars into Assam as the mighty Brahmaputra. Overnight in Pasighat.

Today you drive from Pasighat (Arunachal Pradesh) to Dibrugarh in Assam. On arrival transfer to your hotel. It is the “Camellia” town of Assam, an undisturbed haven, with its endless stretches of tea gardens, Chang bungalows. Chang in the local language means “raised on stilts” and the design served multiple purposes- both to keep the house cool and to keep water and animals out! All the tea gardens have at least one of these bungalows.

Morning transfer to Dibrugarh Airport to board the flight for Kolkata or Delhi so as to connect to your flight for onward journey.
